The consultation fee is $40, which is credited towards your first treatment. Skin needling, also known as microneedling, uses fine needles to stimulate the skin’s natural repair response and encourage collagen remodelling. It can help improve uneven texture, soften the appearance of fine lines and reduce the visibility of selected indented acne scars.
At Althea, treatment is customised to the area being treated and your skin’s individual needs. Improvements develop gradually over the following weeks and months, with a course often recommended to work towards your goals. Results vary, and some scar concerns may benefit from a different treatment approach.

Your treatment begins with a skin assessment, cleanse and careful preparation. A professional meso glide is applied before skin needling is performed using a sterile, single-use needle cartridge. You may notice a prickling sensation, with comfort varying between areas. MediLUX LED Light Therapy is included to complete your appointment.
Your skin may feel warm or tight afterwards, with temporary redness, mild swelling or some dryness as it settles. Redness may appear as darkening on deeper skin tones. Allow several days for recovery, with some reactions lasting up to a week. Your assessment includes a discussion of expected recovery, possible risks and aftercare.

Following skin needling, keep your routine gentle and give your skin time to recover. You will receive personalised instructions for cleansing, products and returning to your usual skincare.
Use only the gentle cleanser and recovery products recommended for your treatment, following the advised first-cleanse timing.
Protect your skin from direct sun. Use shade and a hat, and apply the recommended broad-spectrum SPF 50+ according to your aftercare plan.
Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours, and longer if your skin remains irritated or has not healed.
Avoid heat, strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and swimming during early recovery. Follow your individual advice before returning.
Wait until your skin has recovered before restarting retinol, exfoliating acids, scrubs or strong vitamin C products. Check with your prescriber before changing prescribed skincare.
Do not pick, scrub or exfoliate any flaking skin.
